Rate review onyx for mac3/27/2023 Onyx Boox Note Air 2 review: Connectivity Above all, it’s great for reflowing digital documents and PDFs that were improperly scanned. Split-screen mode for taking notes has previously been mentioned, but the NeoReader software can be used for more than just reading and annotating. Onyx is a better eReader because to its unique eBook software, NeoReader. Not only does the Note Air 2 make an excellent digital notepad. It is pre-configured to emit a warm, yellowish light that is perfect for reading and writing when it is first opened. Additionally, there are numerous adjustments for contrast and brightness.įor operating the Note Air in low light and at night, several LEDs around the display’s edge produce the Moon Light 2 backlight. However, “speed” and “A2” are the modes to use for text that is clear, concise, and free of ghosting (which is noticeable in “normal” mode). There are various E Ink refresh rates available, ranging from the occasional page turns of “normal” to the incredibly rapid, video-capable X mode. The translated characters can then be copied and pasted into applications. Additionally, users can turn handwriting into digital text by using optical character recognition in their notes. The notes are then stored by Onyx’s software in its cloud app or via DropBox. It’s simple to annotate eBooks: simply open an eBook and use the Onyx NeoReader application. However, it has a gimmick that its rivals don’t do as well: it can take notes directly onto eBooks. The Note Air 2’s large 10-inch screen makes it ideal for reading and taking notes. With the Note Air 2, you will want to use a case, but it’s an expensive extra. In addition to being a soft metal, aluminium is also easily scratched due to the rough plastic that covers the glass. On the negative side, as with other metal gadgets, fingerprints and scratches are a problem. But even while it doesn’t feel like a feather, it’s light enough to resemble a paper notebook. After a few hours of reading, the Note Air 2 becomes uncomfortable to handle. Sony’s DPT-CP1 seems like you are clutching a big bag of potato chips in comparison. The 240-gram Sony DPT-CP1 is far more comfortable to handle. The Note Air 2 feels pleasant to write on and read on, despite not being as lightweight as a Remarkable 2 because to its glass screen. With a weight of only 420 grammes, the Note Air 2 is 35% less than the iPad, which weighs 652 grammes. The tablet isn’t waterproof, which is a shame. However, because the magnetic hold isn’t very powerful, it’s rather simple to knock the pen loose. The accompanying pen may be magnetically attached to the right side of the tablet and doesn’t need to be charged. ![]() With a flat front and a grab area to the left of the 10.3-inch, 1,872-by-1,404-pixel screen, the tablet is cool and smooth. Although it balances reasonably well in one hand, the weight makes it difficult to carry for long periods of time. It is the same size and weight as last year’s edition, measuring 9.1 by 7.7 by 0.2 inches (HWD) and 14.8 ounces. The titanium chassis of the Note Air 2 sticks out in a world of predominantly plastic E Ink displays. Although we had some glitches with its note-taking capabilities and wished it were waterproof, the Note Air 2 is still deserving of our Editors’ Choice award despite these drawbacks. The gadget can run any Android reading software, so it isn’t restricted to any particular environment or format either. The Note Air 2 succeeds its outstanding predecessor as the most functional and physically appealing E Ink tablet in its size range. A tablet with a larger screen, like the $499.99 Onyx Boox Note Air 2, would be preferred by those who frequently take notes or read large-format texts. Since most books can be read one-handedly in such sizes, 6- or 7-inch E Ink readers are the most common models on the market in the US.
